Flavor Profile

Kamwangi Peaberry offers a beautifully layered flavor experience, beginning with inviting fragrances of raw sugar, spiced fruit, and rustic cacao. At lighter roasts, the aroma bursts with caramelized sweetness, reminiscent of chocolate-covered dried fruits delicately drizzled with caramel. Brewing the coffee reveals a juicy body and pleasantly tart notes of fresh tangerine and slightly unripe orange, complemented by rustic date sugar sweetness and rich barley malt syrup. Subtle accents of dried plum, grape, and luscious Medjool dates add complexity, while gentle hints of all-spice and cardamom linger aromatically. With a silky mouthfeel, the finish is grounded by earth-toned woodiness. Roasted to Full City, deeper caramelization emerges, showcasing dark fruits, a balancing bittersweetness, and a velvety body akin to fresh fruit juice—ideal for a vibrant, expressive espresso shot.

Farm Notes

The Kamwangi coffee washing station is nestled in the Gichugu division of Kenya's lush Kirinyaga district, benefiting greatly from the nutrient-rich volcanic soils of Mount Kenya and elevations exceeding 1800 meters. Part of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), Kamwangi station is expertly equipped with wet mills, fermentation channels, and raised drying beds, meticulously processing coffees from ripe cherries down to perfectly dried parchment. Environmental stewardship is prioritized through an advanced water recirculation system and dedicated wastewater soaking pits, minimizing ecological impact. Local farmers cultivate renowned Kenyan varieties such as SL-28, SL-34, and Ruiru-11, resulting in a coffee marked by exceptional clarity and depth.
